Production and export of marine fishery in Odisha

This is an attempt as a brief and factual presentation on the marine fisheries sectors of Odisha Govt. policy towards sector. The study based secondary data collected from sources like Directorate Fisheries, Government Marine Fisheries Census complied by CMFRI, Hand Book Statistics, etc. shows that fish production has recorded sluggish growth in recent years export product almost stagnant, far less than potential. fishers lacked cold storage, processing packaging facilities well transportation arrangements to reach other markets, which adversely affected value addition catches. existing infrastructure three fishing harbors seven jetties are not sufficient accommodate all mechanized boats state. In order increase condition fishers, efficient management structure, fair procurement practices suitable infrastructural arrangement need be developed. calls for sustained assistance govt. stakeholders.
